Australia and New Zealand's visa systems are very similar in many ways, but where one side is very limited, the other side often has opportunities. Neither is really better than the other overall and both change regulalry, so having the option to apply for an Australian visa when you are not eligible for a New Zealand visa, and vice-versa, can be advantageous.
The systems and requirements of visas are quite different so if you are interested in a long term stay in either country it is best to start planning your immigration pathway to suit the requirements of the country you wish to go to.

Both Australia and New Zealand legally require that all visa work be done by people who are licensed or exempt, and that it is illegal for anyone else to prepare and submit an application on behalf of another person.
